You know I'm a girl who loves her sweets, so when my friend told me we were a few blocks away from the diner with the famous donuts, I was on it. The last time I had "famous" donuts, I was in Portland, and let me tell you, those donuts were going to be pretty hard to beat. Still, I went in with an optimistic mind, because Nickel Diner had famous BACON donuts. If there's one thing I love more than sweets, it's bacon. I like bacon-wrapped-anything. So, bacon on donuts? Yeah, buddy! Which reminds me, San Francisco also has a donut shop with some "famous" bacon donuts, which I'll do a post on soon. I digress... After a short walk and an even shorter wait, we sat down in a cute booth and promptly ordered what we came for - the famous Maple Bacon Glazed Donut. We also decided to try the Red Velvet Donut, because come on, who doesn't love red velvet? Luckily for us, the donuts weren't sold out, as I'm told they often are. Delicious, moist, with the right amount of sweet to savory ratio, the bacon donut was all that it promised to be and more. The red velvet donut, on the other hand, was a different story. It was overly sweet and much harder than a donut should be. Too sweet? Yes, believe it or not, there is such a thing with me. I took one bite and had to guzzle down my whole glass of water! So the verdict? Bacon is still a winner in my book, but the Red Velvet not so much. Also, these donuts were $2.25 each. Now, I'm not saying that $2.25 is expensive or anything, but don't donuts usually only cost like a dollar? I guess it's because they're famous... Anyways, Nickle Diner also has a Nutella, Strawberry Crumble, and an Irish Car Bomb donut! So, if you find yourself in Downtown Los Angeles, definitely drop by and dig in, if you're a donut-lover, that is.
In other news, this has been an absolutely amazing week. Thank you ALL so much for your love and support. I cannot say that enough. I really can't. You're all the best! xo
